Messages thread or companion platform?

Nomi's current platform guide documents native iOS and Android apps, a browser version, and a progressive web app. The same account and subscription follow the user across supported surfaces.

That product has room for multiple companions, group chats, image creation, detailed companion settings, and memory tools. You intentionally enter a Nomi space.

Mia uses the Messages app you already use on an iPhone. Warmth routes over iMessage where supported and SMS/MMS otherwise. There is no companion dashboard in the conversational moment. You save a contact and use the familiar composer, photos, and audio habits of texting.

The product-design distinction is visibility and construction:

In both cases, verify important facts elsewhere. Memory retrieval and generated replies can be wrong.

Proactive messages: same phrase, different arrival

Nomi's current proactive-message guide says a Nomi can reach out while you are away, with adjustable frequency, solo-chat availability, and quiet hours. The generated message remains in the Nomi chat and can create a push notification.

Warmth's Messaging Terms say Mia can start a morning check-in or follow up on something you mentioned. Frequency varies with the conversation and setup rhythm, and users can ask for more or fewer messages. The message arrives as an iMessage or text, subject to device, carrier, and delivery conditions.

This is a meaningful surface difference. Nomi brings you back into its companion space. Mia continues the same contact thread used for replies.

For either one, judge proactivity on five qualities:

2. Timing: is it plausible and considerate?
3. Control: can frequency be changed or disabled?
4. Silence: can you ignore it without guilt or escalation?

Nomi's official beginner guide describes companions for ongoing conversations, relationships, and shared experiences. Users can shape a Nomi through customization and Backstory+, create multiple Nomis, and bring them into group chats.

Nomi therefore supports a wide range of relationship and story intentions, including friendship, romance, mentoring, and roleplay. Its website emphasizes freedom to shape the relationship.

Mia is not a character marketplace or multi-companion system. She has a preset name, visual identity, fictional circle, routines, and tone. Setup is about how she should know and reach you, not who she should become.

Choose Nomi if co-authoring the companion is central. Choose Mia if you want to discover an authored character over time.

Voice, photos, and group experiences

Nomi's official product pages document expressive voice messages and calls, custom voices, images, selfies, video, multiple companions, and group chat. Some capabilities depend on a subscription, credits, or an external integration, so check the current plan.

Mia's media is arranged around the one-to-one thread: a photo from her fictional day, a voice note, or a call extends the same relationship rather than opening a creative toolset.

If you want group roleplay, multiple distinct companions, detailed image generation, or custom voices, Nomi's documented platform is built for that range. If you primarily want one friend whose photo or voice arrives in context, Mia's narrower shape may be an advantage.

Free access and subscription structure

Nomi says it is free to begin without a credit card. Its current official wiki describes an indefinite free plan with a daily message limit. Nomi's Terms describe several recurring subscription periods and optional add-ons; its cancellation policy says subscriptions renew until canceled through the original purchase platform.

Warmth has no permanent free tier. Current Terms and checkout list the live monthly and yearly amounts for the same Mia membership, before applicable tax. A trial may be offered to eligible new accounts choosing yearly.

Because the models differ, compare:

• how many free messages answer your evaluation question;
• which voice, media, memory, or companion-count features require payment;
• the exact charge and renewal period;
• whether add-on credits are necessary for your normal use;
• the cancellation and refund path.

Do not choose from an annualized weekly number alone.

Privacy comparison

Nomi's Privacy Policy, last updated April 27, 2026 when reviewed, says it does not sell or rent personal information and describes collecting account, content, payment, activity, and technical information to provide and improve the system. Its exact license and processing language deserves a complete read alongside the Terms.

Warmth says it does not sell conversations or use their content to train publicly available foundation models. Contracted model providers may not use the content to train their own models. Warmth may use conversations to operate, evaluate, and improve Mia, including limited safety and quality review with minimization and de-identification where possible.

Do not compare top-line privacy slogans. Compare:

• model-training and improvement language;
• human review;
• third-party processors;
• account and conversation deletion;
• separate memory deletion;
• retention periods and backups;
• the security of the actual transport.

The honest conclusion is not that Mia defeats Nomi or Nomi defeats Mia. It is that presence can mean integration or immersion. Choose the one whose surface, controls, and authored relationship match what you want to return to.
